Andrew Maneval Picked as UAA Outdoor Field MOP

CHICAGO – University of Chicago’s Andrew Maneval was voted as the Most Outstanding Performer (Field Events) from the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

At the UAA Outdoor Championships last weekend, Maneval put together a trio of career-best performances as a thrower. He won his first career conference title in the shot put with a top heave of 15.40 meters. That mark beat the UAA field by nearly two feet. The junior was also runner-up in both the hammer throw at 49.32 meters and the discus at 44.12 meters.

Maneval is the first-ever UChicago men’s thrower to be named UAA Most Outstanding Performer. UChicago’s past MOP’s include senior pole vaulterMichael Bennett (2015 Indoor); distance runner Daniel Povitsky (2014 Outdoor); sprinter Dee Brizzolara (2013 Outdoor); and jumper Seyi Oyenuga (2005 Outdoor).
